Magnesium Sulphate
An essential mineral involved in over 300 enzymatic reactions — relaxes muscles, supports heart rhythm, and calms the nervous system.
What It Is
Magnesium is the fourth most abundant mineral in the body and a cofactor for ATP (cellular energy) production, protein synthesis, muscle contraction, nerve signal transmission, and cardiac rhythm regulation. Studies consistently show that a large proportion of the population does not meet daily magnesium requirements through diet alone. IV magnesium sulphate acts rapidly, replenishing cellular stores within the infusion session.
What It Does
- Relaxes smooth and skeletal muscle tension and cramping
- Directly regulates heart rhythm and supports healthy blood pressure
- Reduces stress, anxiety, and nervous system hyperreactivity
- Supports quality sleep and circadian rhythm
- Essential cofactor for cellular energy (ATP) production
Clinical Considerations
IV magnesium is administered slowly to avoid hypotension or flushing. Contraindicated in patients with severe renal failure (inability to excrete excess magnesium) and in patients on dialysis. Caution in cardiac arrhythmia. A pre-treatment clinical assessment is mandatory.
